Collective security

"Collective security is a win-win situation: your costs go down and you have all-round professional security"

4 questions for Robert Kuys

Robert Kuys is Security Manager - Business Change at DSV located at business park Trade Port West. DSV Road B.V. participates in the Safe Venlo camera project.

Since when have you participated in the camera project?
We have been participating in the Safe Venlo camera project since its inception. Safe Venlo is an important addition to our own security. Of course, you take care of your own security first. Intergarde secures our premises, regularly checks images from the cameras on our premises at random times, mobile surveillance supervises, they take care of the opening and closing rounds and we are connected to the alarm centre in Maastricht. We participate in Veilig Venlo because we are convinced that collective security deters and thus has a preventive effect.

What does the camera project add to your security?
We have all-round security: both on our own premises and in our building, as well as security around our company through Safe Venlo. We think it is important to secure beyond your own front door. If there is an incident at our premises, Intergarde can switch immediately and get support from its alarm centre in Maastricht. They read the camera images and, if necessary, send in mobile surveillance to assess the situation on the spot. They can follow people or cars on the industrial estate using the cameras and also check the license plates, in order to trace people.

"We consider the cameras and the presence of mobile surveillance to be an important link in our security"

What are the security issues at a business park?
The security of a business park has its own challenges: after all, you are in a separate area with a group of companies. In my opinion, security here should therefore be comprehensive. We consider cameras and the presence of mobile surveillance an important link in our security.

With the camera project, you have secured the basics of your collective security, but peripheral issues are also monitored. Think of drivers parking illegally or dumping rubbish. Of course, this is not the main purpose of collective security, but it does contribute to public order and safety. With the entire business park, we radiate that we have our affairs in order, which makes unauthorised people more likely to avoid us.

What is your advice towards companies not yet participating?

Whatever security company you have for your own security, they can all switch with Intergarde for collective security. We are very happy with Safe Venlo and collective security and naturally hope that more companies will participate. So my appeal is; don't limit your security to your own premises but go the extra mile and secure collectively. That way, we all achieve a win-win situation: the cost of collective security falls per participant and we have all-round, professional security on our premises.

Would you like to participate in Safe Venlo or more information?
Collective participation is a basic prerequisite for collective security. Do you not yet participate in the Safe Venlo camera project? Then contact us without obligation and we will personally explain your benefits, such as a discount on your insurance premium.
