Business wants A67 widening

27 September 2018

There has been talk for years about widening the A67, the motorway between Venlo and Eindhoven. Popularly, it is also called the accident road. Traffic is regularly stuck because of accidents. Currently, the situation is being looked at again and measures to improve traffic flow are being discussed.

According to the business association in south-east Brabant, VNO-NCW Brabant-Zeeland, the only solution is to widen the entire motorway between Eindhoven and Venlo to three lanes. It makes little sense to widen a section of the motorway, then flow problems will remain at the point where the motorway becomes two-lane again.

In the Eindhovens Dagblad, business owners indicate that a phased approach would be acceptable. However, there should then be little time between the first and second phase of widening.

Transport minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen will take a decision on what to do with the motorway after 21 November. Should it be decided to widen the A67, it will take years before it is actually realised.
