A full coverage resuscitation network thanks to Entrepreneurial Venlo
Ondernemend Venlo is committed to a safe business climate by working towards a fully covering resuscitation network in the business parks. As part of this mission, after the purchase of an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), Entrepreneurial Venlo covers the maintenance costs. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to move their AEDs outside, so that surrounding businesses and passers-by also have access in case of emergency. In addition, Ondernemend Venlo offers the possibility of jointly purchasing an AED or placing an additional device, further increasing accessibility and safety.
In case of cardiac arrest, quick help is vital. Thanks to the cooperation with 'Heart for Venlo', help is almost always nearby on the business parks. More and more companies install their AEDs on the outside of their premises and ensure that the number of FAFS officers (civilian emergency response workers) continues to grow. 'Hart voor Venlo' is committed to increasing the chances of survival after a cardiac arrest in the region. "We provide professional training for individuals, companies and agencies," says chairman Jacky van Aarssen. "In addition, we strive to place as many AEDs as possible in accessible places in Venlo."

Signposting business parks
New signs have been placed on the access roads to all business parks covered by the Business Investment Zone 2021-2025. The unambiguous look of the welcome signs makes it clear at a glance that the various locations are part of Ondernemend Venlo. The variety of business parks might have given the impression that they are separately operating units. This uniform signage emphasises the cooperation .
Apart from improved accessibility, these welcome signs should also reduce search efforts. This leads to fewer traffic movements and thus fewer CO2 emissions. The refurbished columns are more sustainable and Cradle to Cradle certified: the materials can be recycled after use. Production and installation was provided by AGMI Traffic & Lightning, one of our own entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurial Venlo department Noorderpoort additionally has its own signage with advertising opportunities. Maintenance, sign replacement and advertising are provided by City Outdoor Signs. Every year, this signage is cleaned by La Oya Dagbesteding as part of social and community involvement.

Collective security business parks: strong together!
More and more business associations of business parks are choosing a professional security party for collective camera surveillance. Since January 2020, Intergarde has been putting the camera project Safe Venlo forth. Public area security in the business parks is organised collectively in the form of:
- video surveillance via 360-degree cameras, operated from the video surveillance room.
- ANPR cameras, these record license plates of entering and exiting vehicles.
- night surveillance, on weekends and public holidays also daytime surveillance.
Together with Stichting Parkmanagement Venlo, Vereniging Ondernemend Venlo, Ontwikkelbedrijf Greenport Venlo, the Municipality of Venlo and the Police, Veilig Venlo is active in guaranteeing safety on the business parks. There is structural consultation and this is permanently secured within the Keurmerk Veilig Ondernemen (KVO).
About Safe Venlo
Safe Venlo is housed in the Safe Venlo Foundation where the executing contracting party is Intergarde BV. The foundation consists of representatives of the Vereniging Ondernemend Venlo and Ontwikkelbedrijf Greenport Venlo. The establishment of the Stichting Veilig Venlo guarantees the continuity of camera surveillance at the business parks for the next 10 years.

Energy purchasing
Stichting Parkmanagement Venlo has cooperated with Energie Makelaar for several years now for the collective purchase of gas and electricity. Companies affiliated to Ondernemend Venlo can take advantage of this favourable agreement and make nice savings on their energy costs.
When buying gas and electricity for entrepreneurs, the following three key aspects are considered:
- Competitive selection of a reliable supplier for up to 3 years. This makes use of the collective purchasing power of the participants, which is enhanced by the purchasing power that Energie Makelaar has in the Netherlands by performing these services for a large number of parties.
- Price contracting explicitly takes into account responsible spreading of risks due to strong price fluctuations. This avoids large price differences between year 1 and year 2, while taking advantage of (usually temporary) low market prices. Timing is of obvious importance.
- In addition to purchasing, periodic checks are carried out at individual level to see whether cost savings can be made on the connection and/or transport of energy (costs Stedin/Enexis) as well as on energy taxes. There is also the possibility of having energy invoices checked by Energy Broker.
The main benefits for you as an entrepreneur are:
- Economies of scale and good timing create a substantial price advantage on supplier costs.
- Saving time by not having to delve into energy prices and when is the best time to get in.
- Besides "purchasing" energy and gas, potential savings on network/transport costs and energy taxes are considered.

Hallmark for Safe Enterprise
Within working groups together with the departmental boards, municipality, security, police and fire brigade, the park manager ensures that Venlo business parks have "The Quality Mark for Safe Entrepreneurship". Sustainable cooperation between entrepreneurs, the municipality, police and fire brigade is central to this. Business parks qualify for KVO certification if the parties involved make joint agreements to tackle nuisance and crime.
With measures such as (robbery) prevention training, better public lighting, organised surveillance and fire protection, the KVO ensures a safer and more pleasant environment. Business damage decreases and the image of the business park improves. This benefits not only the entrepreneur, but also the municipality. Moreover, the KVO makes tackling crime and fire safety a lot more effective for the police and fire brigade.
On 14 May 2024, all 20 business parks of Ondernemend Venlo successfully passed the recertification and audit for the Keurmerk Veilig Ondernemen - Continu Samenwerken (Safe Enterprise Quality Mark - Continuous Cooperation). The new KVO Certificate is valid for 3 years. Entrepreneurs can get discounts on their insurance in many cases thanks to the certification.
Truck parking
Together with the police and the municipality, the park manager puts a lot of time into the policy regarding truck parking and the problems with it. The park manager personally visits the places, where the reports come from, to get a good idea of where the problems are the biggest and then thinks along about creative and innovative solutions such as enforcement with drones.
Drivers of unwanted parked trucks are referred to the realised truck parking area on the James Cookweg (Tradeport West business park). Truckparking Venlo is located on the A67/A73 route in Venlo. It is a modern secured site (TAPA certified), where you can rest, stay overnight and enjoy good food. The truckparking is a modern secure area with showers and toilets, washing and drying machines, a truckers' restaurant in the car park and free wifi via fibreglass.
Litter
You can make your own notification to the municipality for this, via: Report | Municipality of Venlo. These include broken street lights, loose paving stones, dumped rubbish, trees in danger of falling down, vandalism, stray animals or some types of pests. If the problems are serious, they are solved quickly by the municipality. Less urgent issues are scheduled by the municipality.
Entrepreneurial Venlo provides emptying of waste containers on Groot Bollerweg, Tjalkkade, Leeghwaterweg, Popeweg and on Blauwwater in Belfeld.
