Every day I get on my bike and ride through Venlo. Between business appointments, I run errands or have lunch with a friend in town. I take a walk through the park or on the heath. It's fascinating how quickly you can go from a busy, entrepreneurial environment to an oasis of calm, thanks to Venlo's enormous diversity.
These characteristics are also reflected in the municipality of Venlo's new brand strategy: Enterprising, Enjoyment, Together and Green. These words form the basis for everything that makes Venlo special. They are core values that connect seamlessly with our business parks, where innovative companies are sometimes world champions in their field, as well as with our city centres, which are bursting with energy and zest for life.
Business parks and city centres are not separate worlds, but together form the driving force of Venlo. On the business parks, people work hard every day on innovation, sustainability and economic growth. In the city centres, entrepreneurs meet their customers, close deals and celebrate their success. This is where the human touch comes in, the place where work and pleasure come together.
"Venlo is home to born entrepreneurs who know how to celebrate life". Not just any slogan, but the core of who we are. The 21 top entrepreneurs we interviewed for the book "Working hard, looking ahead and keeping faith" are proof of that. This book shows how versatile Venlo is: companies that excel at a global level, but are also deeply rooted in the local community.
I have learned that Venlo is unique because Venlo people are always looking to connect. While talking, an idea arises and in no time we have another club or event. The city buzzes and never appeals in vain to an entrepreneur for support. In this way, we not only strengthen our economy, but also add colour to our city. That is our strength and we should be proud of it.
