Friday, May 31, was the member meeting of Entrepreneurial Venlo branch Spikweien at the Wijmarsche Watermolen in Arcen.
The restored water mill, originally from 1677, houses the artisanal gin and liqueur distillery of Granary the Kingfisher. Not only a beautiful setting for this special members' meeting, but also an entertaining and educational venue for the very well attended meeting, with many new faces.
After everyone arrived, a guided tour followed. One could see the process from grain milling to alcohol distilling in action. The accompanying local facts added colour to this introduction to the grain distillery. A guide told about the grain distillery and Mr Gout, as a member of the association, supplemented this with some historical facts.
In tasting room 'De Schenkerij', one could taste a selection from the 60 different distilled genevers, herbal bitters or liqueurs, followed by a delicious barbecue provided by farmer Jan Aerdts on the Voilà award winning terrace Limburg 2024.
