Kick-off Event: 'Towards a 360° labour market'

03 June 2024

On 17 June 2024, Fontys Venlo is organising a kick-off event for the project 'Towards a 360° labour market', the importance of a cross-border labour market. The event will take place at Fontys Venlo campus at Tegelseweg 255 in Venlo.

Importance for the region
This initiative is part of the North Limburg Region Deal and focuses on creating a cross-border labour market in which supply and demand are seamlessly matched on both sides of the border. Vincent Pijnenburg, lecturer in Cross-Border Business Development, indicates the urgency of this project: 'Without a 360-degree perspective, highly educated people are much more likely to leave the region after their studies. With a 180-degree perspective, opportunities at the edge of the country are also smaller. Looking across the border can remove that disadvantage.'

The programme will start at 15:00 with a welcome speech by Elianne Demollin-Schneiders, deputy for education and labour market of the Province of Limburg. Vincent Pijnenburg, lecturer in Cross-Border Business Development at Fontys Venlo, will lead the afternoon as moderator.
Highlights of the event include a podium discussion on the 360° labour market with various experts, including Fontys Venlo alumnus Alex Beinert (Scheuten Glas), Inge Bloemen (HR manager at Pure Ingredients), Paul Sars (professor of German language and culture at Radboud University), and Don Thijssen (rayon manager of labour market regions North and Central Limburg at UWV WERKbedrijf).
In addition, Jos Meessen from Meet the Youngsters will make an interactive contribution on using Virtual Reality to explore the Euroregion. Vincent Pijnenburg will give a preview of the project.

The event will conclude with the signing of the cooperation agreement followed by a toast.
