On the spot where the Stationshotel in Venlo used to be located, the construction of a new hotel has started. On Tuesday 11 June, alderman Erwin Boom gave the starting signal for the new building. Together with the future operator and all parties involved who will realise the hotel, there was a toast to a good start. Construction will take about one year.

The newly constructed hotel will be furnished to a three-star rating. The hotel will have 34 rooms divided into comfort rooms and deluxe rooms. Over the past year, a lot of hard work has also gone into creating a unique concept. The entire customer journey has been determined and based on this, the layout and level to be realised has been determined. "The name of the new hotel will be presented next year, we will keep this a secret for a while," said operator Gijs Hendrikx.
Location
"The location for the hotel is perfect, the developments of the Keulsepoort and the plans the municipality has in this regard are obviously good," Hendrikx continued. "The location in relation to the railway station, a stone's throw away, also plays an important role. In addition, the Limburgs Museum is of course an important attraction. We were able to experience this with the Evert Thielen exhibition. It was a pity we were not open yet. In addition, the Venlo region and North Limburg in particular have a lot to offer. From relaxation in the Maasduinen, shopping, eating and going out to numerous business events and of course the wide cultural offer in the field of theatre and art."
The Maaspoort
The latter is very important and, as an example, Gijs Hendrikx mentions the cooperation with De Maaspoort Theatre and Events. "Working together is important, in the end you achieve more together than alone. I can see this now with both museums located at the Keulsepoort. The Limburgs Museum and soon the Museum Van Bommel Van Dam. But do not forget the city centre in this, Venlo has so much to offer! As with the Theaterhotel Venlo, I look forward to adding something to the experience of Venlo and its surroundings with the new hotel by working intimately with all parties."
New 4-star hotel in Sevenum:
It was also announced on 13 June that Hendrikx Hospitality Group, together with initiators and landowners Ron and Marcel Traarbach, signed an agreement for a new 130-room hotel and meeting accommodation to be realised. In addition, a casino, wellness and leisuredome will be realised at the "De Peelbergen" site on the Midden Peelweg by the developer.
The project will start in the fourth quarter of 2019. The entire project is expected to be delivered in mid-2021. During the coming months, intensive work will be carried out to refine the concept and prepare for construction.
