On 17 January 2024 was the informative New Year's meeting for entrepreneurs with the theme 'Venlo the circular region of NL? Together we can make it happen'. To create a future in which circularity, manufacturing and logistics are a powerful combination, the meeting presented the ambition to increase cooperation.
Venlo runs on those two industrial pillars. We have been the logistics hot-spot of the Netherlands for years. Logistics companies are the absolute job generator in the city. In addition, the manufacturing industry is our biggest economic driver, providing more than 45% of the added value on all products made in Venlo.
Guest speaker Herman Molenaar, a former top executive at Vanderlande is very committed to the subject of sustainability. He did not mince his words during his presentation and stimulated the guests with clear statements such as: "Soon = Now", "No continuity without sustainability" and also "If it can't be sustainable, we won't do it". He provided numerous figures and examples of how we can together ensure that the planet remains livable. The era of planning is over, now it comes down to getting things done! And let that be one of the core qualities of entrepreneurship in Venlo, don't bullshit but polish.
