Survey results Migrant workers - housing

28 September 2018

Entrepreneurial Venlo launched an extensive consultation among its more than 1,200 members. A significant number of 21% responded. You can view the results of this survey download here.

Based on the results, Ondernemend Venlo believes that migrant workers make a positive contribution to the economic growth of their members and are simply necessary for this purpose. However, companies' preference is for job seekers from their own region. However, these are not present or available in sufficient numbers. To attract the right labour migrants, good-quality housing is necessary and even increasingly a means of ensuring that labour migrants (continue to) choose our region. After all, we are not the only region that is and will increasingly depend on labour migrants for the growth of our economy.

Entrepreneurial Venlo believes that small-scale accommodation (<250 people) is preferable to large-scale accommodation. This should be implemented preferably by professional housing providers in consultation with and under the supervision of the municipality.

Specifically for Businesspark Noorderpoort and with regard to the Albertushof site with planned housing for about 750 people, the study revealed that this is certainly not desirable at the planned location and/or in the planned size.

The figures of the Businesspark Noorderpoort respondents are broken down and available separately on request if necessary.
