For the first time this summer, Viva Classic Live is organising a singing competition for young opera talents up to 30 years old from Limburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. The final of the singing competition - a large open-air concert - will take place on 6 September 2023 on the market square in Venlo.
Five finalists will each present themselves, during the final, with two arias, accompanied by the orchestra 'The New Symphonics' conducted by Maurice Luttikhuis. The singing competition is part of a Euroregional cooperation between Viva Classic Live, Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach, Theater De Maaspoort in Venlo and Opera Compact. The aim of this cross-border cooperation is to optimise and strengthen regional dynamics and the regional production climate for classical music and dance. For companies operating in the Euroregion, this is an interesting new platform to reach customers and business relations. From the O.V. Committee on Internationalisation, company Systemec has already committed itself to this Euroregional initiative. Companies that are also interested can contact initiator Sef Thissen: sef.thissen@home.nl.
Singing competition for young opera talent
With this competition, young classically trained talent gets a stage to present themselves on both sides of the border and connect more strongly with their own region. The competition is made possible by the Interreg Programme Deutschland-Nederland, co-financed by the European Union and the programme partners. For the coming years, they want to further expand this event with a competition for talented young pianists and string players, among others.
