VENLO - The truck parking at the James Cookweg has been delayed. Earlier, it was planned to realise the parking spaces in 2020, but it will probably be two years later. So reports Wij Limburg today.
Entrepreneurial Venlo is protesting against this to the municipality and the state.
National project
The expansion of the car park at the secure Trade Port Noord industrial estate is part of a national project to reduce the number of overnight drivers at petrol stations and on emergency lanes. The expansion in Venlo is potentially funded by a European grant.
Pressure on
Earlier this year, the intention was to have the enlarged truck parking realised by mid-2020. But at the moment, there appear to be no concrete plans for it. Some pressure is on though: a condition of the subsidy scheme is that the expansion is completed by the end of 2020.
