Top Women Limburg Foundation will present an award to the best top woman of Limburg for the eighth time on Thursday 4 April 2019 at Theaterhotel de Oranjerie in Roermond. Top women can be nominated from today via https://www.topvrouwenlimburg.nl/topvrouw-voordragen.
"We are committed to increasing diversity at the top of organisations. With the election, we make female talent visible and want to encourage other women to advance in an organisation," said chair Steffie Hoeijmakers.
That the debate on how to get more women to the top in the Netherlands is still raging is clear from figures from the Female Board Index presented this weekend. There is again no progress in the number of female directors and supervisory board members at listed companies.
The Index by Prof Mijntje Lückerath, professor of corporate governance at TIAS School for Business and Society, shows that the percentages of female executive and supervisory directors at all 90 Dutch listed companies this year are both the same as last year, 6% and 25% respectively. It also shows that only five companies meet the statutory target of 30%.
An independent jury awards the title to a top woman whose qualities include leadership skills, vision, perseverance and business and social commitment. She must also be an inspiring example for other top women and meet a number of financial criteria. The board of the foundation sees the election as a tribute to top women in Limburg who make a valuable and striking contribution to business, the community, government or science.
