Labour market of the future

16 April 2025

Yesterday's meeting took place 'Ready for tomorrow's job market?' place, where participants were taken through the key trends shaping the future of the labour market. In a time of rapid change, it is essential for organisations to be aware of both the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing labour market.

The event highlighted three central themes: ageing, technological developments (such as AI) and the effective use of different generations in the workplace.

Monique Snijders of the UWV kicked off with insights on generation management and the impact of ageing on the labour market. Her presentation prompted reflection on how organisations can retain the valuable knowledge of older employees while attracting and developing young talent.

Rob Adams of Six Fingers then took us into the world of technology and future thinking. He emphasised that the future may not be predictable, but that you can prepare strategically as an organisation. Using examples and inspiring mindsets, he showed how technological innovations, including AI, offer opportunities to improve processes and become future-proof.

The closing discussion, led by chairman of the day Joop Aerdts, provided plenty of room for interaction, sharing practical experiences and asking questions. Attendees appreciated the open dialogue and the concrete take-aways they could take home.

The meeting ended with a buffet and drinks, where there was ample opportunity for networking and deepening conversations.

The turnout, engagement and positive reactions confirm that this topic is alive and well. We look back on a valuable and inspiring meeting and will follow this up at the end of the year (October) based on the input of those present.
